This tour showcases the lakes and orchards of the Okanagan Valley, the National Parks of the Rockies and the cattle ranching country of the Cariboo region.
Travelling aboard the Rocky Mountaineer you’ll take an incredible journey from the coastal city of Vancouver to the resort town of Whistler, then on to the charming rural town of Quesnel, Jasper National Park, Lake Louise and the mountain resort of Banff. There’s also plenty of time to sightsee in Vancouver and Calgary too.
Arrive in Vancouver and transfer independently to your hotel for a three-night stay.
Today you’ll tour the city on a San Francisco-style hop-on/hop-off trolley bus, exploring at your own pace. Amongst the most popular sights are Stanley Park, Chinatown and Gastown but with twenty stop-off points you are spoilt for choice where to hop-on/hop-off!
Today you’ll embark on a full-day excursion to Victoria by coach and ferry. The highlights include the ninety-five-minute ferry trip through the scenic waterways of the Gulf Islands, admission to Butchart Gardens which feature exotic floral displays, and free time to explore the Inner Harbour waterfront area of Victoria itself.
Rocky Mountaineer to Whistler
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to the resort town of Whistler, renowned for outstanding skiing and year-round outdoor activities. Following your motorcoach transfer from downtown Vancouver, the Rocky Mountaineer takes you on a breath-taking rail journey through the stunning scenery of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. Highlights of the trip include spectacular views of Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains, Brandywine Falls, Mount Garibaldi and the impressive Cheakamus Canyon. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Whistler. Breakfast whilst on board.
Rocky Mountaineer to Quesnel
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer to the charming rural town of Quesnel, gateway to the North Cariboo. Enjoy breath-taking and varied scenery, from the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley, through the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon, to rolling hills and vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. Highlights include the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacier-fed Seton Lake, sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon, and the crossing of Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the banks of the Fraser River into Quesnel. Overnight in Quesnel. Breakfast and lunch whilst on board.
Rocky Mountaineer to Jasper
Your journey continues eastwards today to the majestic Canadian Rockies and Jasper National Park. From Quesnel, the Rocky Mountaineer follows the Fraser River north to the town of Prince George, then travels east through the forests of northern British Columbia, home to plentiful wildlife, including a large population of moose. Entering the Rocky Mountain Trench you are surrounded by the steeply rising Rocky Mountains to the north and the Cariboo Mountains to the south. Continue climbing past Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, through Yellowhead Pass into the province of Alberta. Your rail journey ends today on arrival in Jasper. Overnight in Jasper. Breakfast and lunch whilst on board.
Today enjoy a day at leisure to explore this mountain resort town or perhaps take an optional excursion.
Today you’ll enjoy a sightseeing transfer along the Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise ‘the jewel of the Rockies’. At the Columbia Icefield you will board an Ice Explorer onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier and other sightseeing stops will be made on the way to Lake Louise. Elk, deer and even black bear are often sighted along the Icefield Parkway so keep your eyes peeled! Upon arrival check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
Today take a scheduled coach transfer to the mountain resort town of Banff. On arrival check into your hotel for a two-night stay, with the rest of the day at leisure.
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff which includes visits to Surprise Corner, Bow Falls and the Hoodoos as well as the Gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain and Banff Minnewanka Lake Cruise. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Today you will transfer by scheduled coach to Calgary for a two-night stay.
Today you’ll enjoy a day at leisure to perhaps take the opportunity for some last minute shopping? The Calgary Tower with its revolving restaurant makes it the perfect spot for dinner.
