THE ROCKY MOUNTAINEER

Travel aboard the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer as part of this superb tour. The neighbouring provinces of Alberta and British Columbia offer a wealth of sightseeing opportunities and we have included some ‘must-do’s’ in this itinerary, such as boarding a gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, together with travelling in an Ice Explorer to discover the Athabasca Glacier.

              

Calgary

DAY 1

Arrive in Calgary and transfer by coach to your hotel for a two-night stay.

              

Calgary

DAY 2

Today is a day at leisure to relax. Included is admission to the Calgary Tower which offers good views of the city and surrounding area.

              

Banff

DAY 3

Today, transfer by coach, to the mountain resort of Banff for a three-night stay. Set alongside the banks of the Bow River and surrounded by mountains, Banff is a year-round resort with a range of attractions, shops, boutiques, restaurant and museums.

              

Banff Sightseeing

DAY 4

This morning enjoy a four-hour sightseeing tour of Banff, including scenic highlights such as Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Then board a gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for exceptional views of the Bow Valley and six mountain ranges.

              

Columbia Icefield Excursion

DAY 5

Today you will journey by coach along the spectacular Icefields Parkway, where lakes, waterfalls and mountain peaks dot this awe-inspiring landscape. At the Columbia Icefield you’ll venture onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier by means of a massive Ice Explorer vehicle, and you’ll also visit the Glacier Skywalk.

              

Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops

DAY 6

Early this morning transfer by coach (included) to the station and board the Rocky Mountaineer for their ‘First Passage to the West’ route, travelling in SilverLeaf Service. Transfer to a moderate class hotel which is arranged by Rocky Mountaineer. Breakfast and lunch served on- board.

              

Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver

DAY 7

Again, this morning, transfer by coach (included) to the station and re-board the train for today’s journey which takes you through the Fraser Canyon and the fertile Fraser Valley before reaching Vancouver late afternoon. Transfer by coach (included) to your hotel for a three-night stay. Breakfast and lunch served onboard.

              

Vancouver Sightseeing

DAY 8

This morning enjoy a five-hour tour visiting highlights such as Stanley Park, Granville Market, Chinatown and historic Gastown. Then, cross the Lions Gate Bridge for a visit to the Capilano Suspension Bridge in the north shore rainforest.

              

Vancouver

DAY 9

Today enjoy a day at leisure to do some last-minute shopping or further sightseeing or you may wish to take an optional full-day excursion to Victoria and perhaps visit Butchart Gardens.
