Passage Through The Rockies


From the city of Calgary to Vancouver on the Pacific Coast this tour gives you the opportunity to see a wide range of scenic highlights including Banff and Jasper National Parks, the Cariboo region and the Coast Mountain range.


Arrive in Calgary


On arrival in Calgary you will be met by a Travelmarvel representative and transferred to your hotel. Meet your Travelmarvel Tour Director and fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception at Calgary Tower this evening. You will be booked into Calgary Marriott Hotel (or similar) for one night.


Calgary to Banff


After breakfast this morning, depart Calgary and head towards Banff National Park, past some truly spectacular scenery, and enjoy a visit to Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary along the way. On arrival in Banff, head out on a sightseeing tour. Breakfast and dinner included. You will be booked into Banff Park Lodge (or similar) for two nights.


Banff at Leisure


Following breakfast, enjoy the day at leisure to explore Banff at your own pace. You may like to use this time to wander around the town independently or simply relax in the comfort of your lodge. Alternatively, set off on one of the optional experiences that are available today. Perhaps enjoy a Banff Experience Tour, which includes a visit to Johnston Canyon. Or, take to the skies to witness incredible views of stunning Banff National Park on a heli-flightseeing trip (all optional experiences are at own expense). Breakfast included.


Banff to Lake Louise


After a leisurely morning exploring the wonders of Banff, set off by coach over the Trans-Canada Highway. Travel through the lush forest of Banff National Park to Moraine Lake (weather permitting), located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. After pausing to admire the beauty of this stunning glacially-fed lake (weather permitting), continue on your way to the world-famous waters of Lake Louise, renowned as the jewel of the Rockies. Breakfast and dinner included. You will be booked into Lake Louise Inn (or similar) for one night.


Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway, Athabasca Glacier, Jasper


Relax during breakfast this morning before travelling along the spectacular Icefields Parkway- a scenic route that winds through the Canadian Rockies past the ancient glaciers, vast ice elds, broad sweeping valleys and pristine lakes that straddle the Continental Divide. This drive is a truly breathtaking experience. After pausing to admire the bright, turquoise colour of Peyto Lake, continue on to the giant Columbia Icefield. Here, you’ll board a custom-designed Ice Explorer vehicle and journey right onto the surface of Athabasca Glacier. Formed from snow falling as much as 400 years ago, take in the sights of this remarkable natural wonder. Afterwards, continue on to the fairytale village of Jasper, located within Jasper National Park. Breakfast included. You will be booked into Chateau Jasper (or similar) for two nights.


Blue River


Leave Jasper National Park and head to Blue River where pristine lakes, rivers and wildnerness abound. On arrival, enjoy a River Safari to Grizzly Bear Valley. Watch out for grizzly and black bears that are frequently sighted here. Your overnight stay is at the wonderful Mike Wiegele Heli Village. Tonight enjoy a relaxed dining experience by the river.




Journey through the rugged Cariboo region on your way to Vancouver. Enjoy a two-night stay at Marriott Pinnacle Hotel.


Replace Days 6 and 7 with the world- famous Rocky Mountaineer rail journey from Jasper to Vancouver. On the morning of Day 6 you’ll be taken to the rail station to board the train. Hotel accommodation at Kamloops is provided by Rocky Mountaineer. Breakfast and lunch is included both days onboard the train. On Day 7 you’ll reboard the train for the journey to Vancouver where you’ll re-join your tour. There is an additional price for this option and it is based on SilverLeaf Service. Please ask for more details.  

If the Rocky Mountaineer option is added that portion of the tour will NOT be escorted by a Travelmarvel Tour Director.




Take a sightseeing tour of Vancouver. The remainder of the day is at leisure. You may like to wander through the old cobblestone streets of Gastown, the birthplace of Vancouver, visit the shopping mecca of Robson Street, or embark on an optional tour to Vancouver’s famed Granville Island Public Market. You may wish to choose a select experience, such as a picturesque Grouse Mountain gondola ride or a thrilling walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which hangs 70 metres above the Capilano River (all optional activities are at own expense). Breakfast included.


Vancouver to Whistler


Head along the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler. ‘Enhance Your Journey’ – at this point we offer an exciting range of Select Experiences to choose from: perhaps explore Whistler’s ancient forests with a selection of tree trek options or, if it’s adventure you’re seeking, then join a 4x4 tour or a snowcat tour (depending on the season). Explore the surrounds of Blackcomb Mountain on a Jeep safari, or enjoy an insightful bear-viewing and ecology tour. Alternatively, take the scenic Peak-2-Peak Gondola between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains (all optional activities at own expense). Breakfast included. You will be booked into Delta Whistler Village Suites (or similar) for one night.


Whistler to Victoria

DAY 10

Following breakfast, leave Whistler as you head towards Victoria. Stop at pretty Shannon Falls as you travel along the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Horseshoe Bay. From here, board a ferry across the Georgia Strait to the small city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Then, travel by coach to the city of Victoria. Upon arrival, set off on a sightseeing tour of this charming city before checking in to your hotel. The evening is then yours to enjoy at leisure. Perhaps continue to explore as you wish or enjoy time to unwind at your hotel. Alternatively you may prefer to take a floatplane  ight to Victoria (at your own expense). Breakfast included. You will be booked into Parkside Resort & Spa (or similar) for two nights.



DAY 11

Enjoy time at leisure after breakfast this morning with the day offering the perfect opportunity to explore the lovely city of Victoria at your own pace. Perhaps visit some of the city’s most famous sights, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, or simply take time out to make use of the facilities at your hotel. Alternatively, you may like to embark on one of the optional experiences that are available, such as an exciting whale-watching excursion, or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. Later, delight in the opportunity to explore The Butchart Gardens - one of the world’s premier floral show gardens established by the Butchart family in 1904. Here, you will have ample time to stroll through the wonderful estate and view the truly enchanting gardens. ‘A Taste of Canada’ - this evening, as the land portion of your journey draws to an end, enjoy a Farewell Dinner in the former Butchart family residence with your fellow travellers and Travelmarvel Tour Director (all optional experiences are at your own expense). Breakfast and dinner included.


Victoria – Embark Alaska Cruise

DAY 12

Today say farewell to Victoria. Following breakfast this morning you will be transferred by ferry back to Vancouver. This afternoon you will board your cruise ship and settle in for a seven-night cruise. On this cruise you will explore the unparalleled beauty of Alaska’s Inside Passage, absorb the breath-taking beauty of Glacier Bay, be awed by magni cent Tracy Arm, explore the remote capital of Juneau, discover the colourful town of Ketchikan and be immersed in the frontier-style atmosphere of Skagway. You will be booked into an Ocean View Stateroom with meals included whilst on-board.


Inside Passage

DAY 13

Enjoy your first full day at sea as your ship cruises along coastal British Columbia and the Alaska Panhandle. Glide past rocky headlands and over the frigid waters of the Inside Passage, one of the world’s most picturesque sea-lanes, and one of the few where deep-draft vessels can sail close to steep mountain walls. Take the opportunity to relax onboard and make use of the ship’s facilities as you travel through this incredible region.


Tracy Arm, Juneau

DAY 14

Cruise through captivating Tracy Arm this morning. A narrow and twisting fjord that features 2,000-metre-high peaks, sheer rock faces and waterfalls at almost every turn – this is a truly unforgettable experience. At the end of the fjord, pass the breath-taking twin Sawyer glaciers. The ship then makes its way to Alaska’s capital, Juneau. Set at the foot of the majestic Coast Mountains on the shores of the Gastineau Channel, here you will disembark for time to explore at your leisure. Alternatively, set off on one of the exciting optional excursions. You may like to take an exhilarating dog sled ride over a glacier, sample a traditional Alaskan salmon dish baked over a fire, or pan for gold (all optional experiences are at your own expense). Return to your ship in the afternoon.



DAY 15

Today you’ll dock at the port of Skagway which was once a frontier town and gateway to the Klondike. The city is also renowned for its pristine wilderness as well as the fascinating culture and history. After breakfast you will disembark your ship and enjoy the day at leisure. During your time here, perhaps enjoy an optional experience such as learning about gold prospecting or view some of the local wildlife (all optional experiences are at your own expense). Alternatively, you may prefer to explore the historic town where you will find a variety of stores and saloons that capture the excitement and history of the gold rush days. After time exploring, return to your ship.


Glacier Bay

DAY 16

Wake to the breathtaking sight of World Heritage-listed Glacier Bay National Park which boasts more active calving tidewater glaciers than anywhere else in the world. As you cruise through the national park and take in the rivers of ice and sky-scraping peaks, you’ll see why the area has received World Heritage status. You’ll benefit from the insightful commentary of local rangers who will come aboard your ship to explain the geological wonders and point out some of the diverse wildlife and captivating marine mammals that inhabit these icy waters.



DAY 17

Arrive in Ketchikan today, a lovely town that is set on the shores of the Tongass Narrows, with many colourful shops and houses built right over the water. After breakfast, disembark your ship and set off to discover this charming township. Perhaps enjoy one of the optional experiences on offer such as a walking tour of the town or learn about Tlingit Indian culture at Saxman Native Village (all optional experiences are at your own expense). Ketchikan acts as a gateway to Misty Fjords National Monument – one of America’s largest wilderness areas, meaning that there is plenty to see in the surrounding area. After a marvellous day of exploration, return to your ship.


Inside Passage

DAY 18

Today marks the final full day on-board your cruise ship. You’ll spend the day cruising south through the majestic landscapes of the Inside Passage, soaking in the stunning sights of this awe-inspiring region. Marvel at the towering snow-capped peaks and icy glaciers, and from the ship’s deck, watch for the fascinating variety of marine life that can be spotted here. Tonight relax and take this last opportunity to enjoy the facilities of your ship.


End of Package

DAY 19

Today it is time to say your farewells as this marks the end of you tour. On arrival in Vancouver you will disembark your ship and transfer to Vancouver International Airport for your return flight.
