This Churchill adventure, led by an Interpretive Guide, allows you to experience the excitement of polar bear viewing from the comfort of a world-famous Tundra Buggy®; a unique experience that will provide memories to last a lifetime. On this tour, you will also get to enjoy the eclectic charm of the unique Northern town of Churchill.

This hotel-based Churchill Town and Tundra tour includes full-day Tundra Buggy safaris in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area - where polar bears await the freezing of the Hudson Bay - but also has ample time set aside to spend in town, offering the opportunity to discover Churchill’s personality by exploring unique shops, family-run restaurants boasting delicious regional cuisine, and cultural museums that portray the historical importance of the area.

This adventure is ideal for guests who want to experience the charm of the town of Churchill whilst also spending days in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area, viewing Churchill’s incredible polar bears.

              

Arrival in Winnipeg

DAY 1

Today you arrive at Winnipeg International Airport. After collecting your luggage you will head for your overnight hotel, the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel which is located just across the street from the airport. This evening, after dinner, there is a meet and greet hosted by your Frontiers North Interpretive Guide where you will have a chance to ask any last minute questions and learn more about your upcoming adventure. Overnight in Winnipeg.

              

Winnipeg to Churchill

DAY 2

Today, after a very early breakfast, you will be transferred to a private hanger for your flight to Churchill. Upon arrival you will head straight out on a Churchill & Area Tour which comprises of an exploratory drive in the area surrounding the town of Churchill, including historical Cape Merry; the site of a crashed airplane affectionately known by locals as Miss Piggy; and Manitoba Conservation’s Polar Bear Holding Facility.

Next, take a break for lunch and enjoy a warm, home-cooked meal at one of Churchill’s family-run restaurants. After lunch you stop off at Churchill’s Eskimo Museum, which is home to an enormous collection of Inuit artifacts and has an incredible little gift shop where visitors can buy local Inuit art and carvings, books and other gifts. After the museum it’s off to your hotel to freshen up before a wonderful dinner. The day’s final activity is an evening cultural presentation by locals who tell stories of growing up in Churchill.

              

Tundra Buggy Adventure

 

DAY 3

Today is your first day on a Tundra Buggy,. After breakfast, you will be transferred out to the Tundra Buggy Launch. After a safety speech from your driver, you hit the trails and travel into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. Your driver will search for polar bears and other arctic wildlife while your interpretive guide points out interesting facts about the area’s geology and history. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch right on the Tundra Buggy as you watch and photograph wildlife. At the end of an incredible first day on the tundra you return to town for a warm dinner and relaxing evening. You overnight in Churchill. Breakfast and lunch are included.

              

Tundra Buggy Adventure

DAY 4

Today is your second and final Tundra Buggy excursion. There is no need for a safety speech today so you set off right away in search of polar bears. Today will be full of extraordinary wildlife and many chances to get great photos. Once again you enjoy a picnic-style lunch on the Tundra Buggy. After your day of observing polar bears in the wild, return to Churchill for a delicious meal.

              

Churchill / Return to Winnipeg

DAY 5

Today the focus is on northern culture. The first excursion of the day is a dog-sledding programme with a local dog musher who regales you with incredible dog sledding stories, introduces you to his dog pack and then takes each of the group on a mile-long sled ride through the boreal forest. Then it’s back to town for lunch. After lunch you will visit the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre, which has in-depth displays that reveal the remarkable history of Churchill through wildlife dioramas and exhibits that portray the history of the fur trade in the area.

As the day comes to an end so does your time in Churchill. You are transferred back to Churchill Airport for your return flight to Winnipeg. Upon arrival you check back in to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. The night is yours at leisure.
